Innovative Admissions Practices Using WebAdMIT


Discover innovative ways to use PTCAS applicant data and WebAdMIT to create an efficient admissions process that facilitates your program’s ability to identify a diverse and qualified class that can succeed in the curriculum and advance the profession. During the session, speakers will describe program-specific criteria and strategies adopted to address different institutional challenges and goals relative to admissions. Topics will include the integration of non-cognitive abilities into a holistic admissions process, strategies to manage a large and geographically diverse applicant pool, and development and application of custom scoring models. The session will also provide an overview of the PTCAS transition to the new 3.0 application platform and implications for programs and applicants.

The session is related to the “Outcome Assessment in Physical Therapy Education” theme for the 2016 Education Leadership Conference. DPT education programs in PTCAS can use the strategies described in the session to facilitate the identification of a diverse and qualified class that has the potential to achieve better student outcomes.

Course Objectives

(1) Identify WebAdMIT resources and strategies that programs can use to create an effective and efficient admissions process that facilitates the identification of a qualified and diverse entering class.

(2) Identify mechanisms programs can use WebAdMIT to facilitate the adoption of a holistic admissions process, narrow down a large applicant pool, and utilize custom scoring models in the admissions process.

(3) Understand the timeline and implications of the PTCAS transition to the new CAS 3.0 application platform.
