The Current State of PTA Education: Findings of the PTA Education Trends Task Force

During the 2018Ð2019 Academic year, the PTA Educators Special-Interest Group (SIG) of the Academy of Physical Therapy Education (APTE) created a PTA Education Trends Task Force composed of PTA Educators. This group was tasked to gather and document existing data related to the state of PTA education; survey program directors regarding their perceptions of PTA education; analyze data to identify current trends affecting PTA education; and produce a written report to the APTE Board of Directors. Data gathered and analyzed included employment and work environment; pass rates and licensure; matriculation and graduation; recruitment and admissions; curricular issues; state and federal regulations; and curricular models regarding the degree granted for entry-level PTA education. This presentation will include a summary of the task force findings, as well as the results of the survey administered to PTA program directors.
