Through the Looking Glass: Transforming Physical Therapy Education

October 13-15, 2017 | Columbus, OH

ELC 2017 invites academic administrators, faculty, and clinicians to engage with one another in the Through the Looking Glass: Transforming Physical Therapy Education.  The conference begins with the 4th Annual Dr. Geneva R. Johnson Forum on Innovation where participants are encouraged to reconsider the future of physical therapy education through a lens of excellence.  We will present educational programming based on five thematic areas:

  • Humanities: Bringing art and evidence into PT education
  • Walking the Talk: Leadership and advocacy
  • Using evidence and benchmarks in curricula planning
  • Strengthening clinical reasoning and interprofessional skills during internships
  • Admissions perspectives and challenges: Where are we now?

  • Volunteers Needed!

    Volunteers and moderators are needed to assist with registration, introduce speakers for the educational presentation sessions, and moderate the platform sessions. These positions are simple and "guidelines" will be provided in preparation for the sessions.  Responsibilities include introducing speakers, moderating questions after presentations, assisting in finding late comer seating, etc.  We will also need several people to assist with registration Thursday evening and Friday morning for a few hours.  Please provide your name, email address, and an "on-site" contact phone number where you may be reached at the conference. If you have not utilized google documents before, you will need to create a Gmail address or Gmail account ID, prior to logging in (easy process). Please complete the sign up by September 30, 2018.

  • Clinical Scholarships Available: The Academy and ACAPT are offering to sponsor registration fees for up to 40 clinical educators and/or clinical administrators to attend the 2017 ELC. Sponsorship will be awarded at the Academy member registrant rate of $295. Any additional registration fees and/or travel costs are the responsibility of the registrant. Application deadline will close on July 24. Awardees will be notified by August 1st and will receive a registration fee waiver of $295.
