Professional Bio

Since July 2022, Darren Calley, PT, DScPT, OCS has served as the Academy of Education RFESIG Chair. He is the Mayo Clinic Physical Therapy Residency Director of the Neurologic, Orthopaedic, and Sports Residency Programs in Rochester, Minnesota, a position he has held since 2015. From 2012 to 2021, he coordinated and developed the Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency at Mayo Clinic Rochester. He is an Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy in the College of Medicine at Mayo Clinic and a core faculty member in the program in physical therapy. Dr. Calley received a Master of Physical Therapy degree from the Mayo School of Health Sciences in 1996 and a Doctor of Science from the University of Maryland in 2009. He has been a member of the MNPTA Board of Directors, MNPTA Nominating Committee, APTA Advanced Credentialed Clinical Instructor revision task force, and is an APTA Education and Orthopaedic Academy member. Dr. Calley is board certified in orthopaedics and is member of the AOPT imaging, pain management, and residency/fellowship special interest groups and has served as the chair of the ORF-SIG practice committee. He has presented regionally and nationally on clinical education and has research interests in residency education and mentoring, biopsychosocial considerations, and musculoskeletal examination.
