Professional Bio

My journey in the field of physical therapy began at Kansas City Kansas Community College, where I obtained my PTA degree. Since then, I have dedicated my career to advancing both my knowledge and the knowledge of those around me. While working as a PTA in an inpatient rehabilitation facility, I earned my master’s degree in health and human performance: Health and Wellness Education from Pittsburg State University. After joining the faculty at Kansas City Kansas Community College, I completed my Doctor of Philosophy in Adult Learning and Leadership from Kansas State University.

Currently serving as the Program Coordinator for the Physical Therapist Assistant Program at Kansas City Kansas Community College, I am well-versed in the challenges and opportunities that face educators in our field. I teach courses on therapeutic exercise, clinical skills, and lifelong learning, and I am deeply committed to fostering an environment that promotes excellence in education.

In addition to my role as Program Coordinator, I have presented at the Education Leadership Conference (ELC) on PTA Admissions and a webinar on improving NPTE scores post-COVID, providing insights into innovative approaches to education in the ever-changing landscape of healthcare.

My involvement in professional organizations, particularly the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), has been extensive. I have proudly served three terms as a Kansas PTA Caucus representative and am currently an active member of the PTAC steering group. I am also a dedicated member of the PTA Educators SIG, where I have witnessed firsthand the incredible work being done to advance physical therapist assistant education.

Furthermore, I have the privilege of serving as a Co-Chair of the PTA Exam Development Committee for the Federation of Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT). This role has given me valuable insights into the assessment and evaluation aspects of physical therapy education.
