Professional Bio

Kirsten Potter, PT, DPT, MS is a Professor and the Director of Curriculum & Assessment at Tufts University – Seattle. She has been a physical therapist educator since 1993 and previously taught at the University of New England, Northwestern University, and Rockhurst University. While at Northwestern, Kirsten also served as Assistant Director of Clinical Education, and at Rockhurst she held the position of Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL). Her work in CETL included the facilitation of workshops on teaching and learning, book clubs, and mentoring groups, in addition to consulting with faculty to promote high quality instruction. She is experienced in teaching in-person and in virtual or hybrid contexts and is comfortable using numerous technologies to enable effective teaching, communication, and collaboration. Her research focuses on outcome measures for adults with neurologic conditions and she has numerous presentations and publications. Kirsten has been actively involved in the APTA and has held leadership positions in the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapists and Academy of Education, including serving on the Nominating Committee for the Clinical Education Special Interest Group (2012-2013) and presenting at the Academic Faculty SIG meeting in 2021. She presents annually at the Academy’s New Faculty Workshop (in both in-person and virtual formats) on topics related to core principles of teaching and learning, syllabus and course design, and assessment of student learning.
