Professional Bio

Kristina currently serves as the Director of Clinical Education and Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and Health Science. With a PT career spanning over a decade, she possesses experience in outpatient, long-term care, and acute healthcare settings, complemented by over five years serving as the Director of Clinical Education. Kristina continues with per diem practice within rural acute care and outpatient orthopedics.

Kristina is actively engaged in various roles related to clinical education, including the Volunteer Coordinator for the APTA Academy of Education and Academic Vice-Chair for CE SIG within the Illinois Physical Therapy Association (IPTA). Her engagement also includes membership in the Acute Care Section Education Committee, IPTA District Vice President, and a recently appointed APTA Level 1 CCIP trainer. Additionally, she chairs her department's student academic progress committee and was recently appointed as the interim curriculum chair for the undergraduate kinesiology and health science program.

Kristina is extensively involved in multiple university initiatives, contributing to program admission, curriculum, retention and outcomes committees, and holds membership in the ACAPT clinical reasoning and DEI consortium. Her academic journey includes a DPT from the University of Michigan Flint and recent completion in 2022 of her EdD (Education and Leadership in Healthcare). Her research focuses on areas such as clinical reasoning, the cost of clinical education, clinical readiness, faculty motivation, and optimizing the learning environment within the clinical education framework.
