Professional Bio

Dr. Martha Bloyer received a BS ’94, MS ’99 in Physical Therapy from Florida International University (FIU) and her Pediatric Certified Specialization (PCS) in 2008 from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties with recertification in 2018. She obtained her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) at Utica College, New York in 2010. In 2007, she joined the faculty at FIU as Director of Clinical Education. In 2015, she joined the faculty at the University of Miami (UM) Department of Physical Therapy, is Program Coordinator for Education for the UM–Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Pediatric Residency Program and is faculty/clinician at the Mailman Center for Child Development, Department of Pediatrics.

She has served in various roles in the Florida Physical Therapy Association (FPTA); SE District Regional Director and Board of Director for the FPTA (2018-2022). Since 2016, has served as a part of the Florida Delegation to the House of Delegates. In addition, she serves as part of Beyond the Read Committee of the Pediatric Physical Therapy Journal.

Clinically she has practiced in various settings including Early Intervention, school based services at Miami Dade County Public Schools, outpatient pediatrics, and home health environments. She currently continues to practice by providing examinations and treatments at the UM-Mailman Center for Child Development and privately in the home environment.

Research interests include studies with children with disabilities, transition of healthcare, inter-professional education and collaborations, simulation in education and clinical education.
