Item/Job/Service Description

Title: Director of Clinical Education 

Campus: Brooklyn 
Department: Physical Therapy (full-time) 
Job Duties: The Director of Clinical Education is a full-time non-tenure track faculty member in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program with 24- credits of workload per academic year in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The primary responsibility of the DCE is the administration, management, and implementation of the clinical education program, in addition to teaching in their area of expertise. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills. Academic rank commensurate with experience. 
Principal Responsibilities: 
 Provides in-person counseling to DPT students on clinicalplacements. 
 Performs outreach to multiple health care sites to successfully negotiate 172 placements per cohort and supporting documentation for DPT students annually, while organizing and updating 450+ clinical contracts 
 Recruits, develops, and seeks to retain clinical faculty participation in clinical instruction. 
 Conducts in-person site visits in the tri-state area as well as site calls for out of area students to monitor student progress in clinical education and nurture clinical partnerships. 
 Ensures high quality clinical experiences for all students through continual assessment of and ongoing communication with clinical sites and clinical faculty. 
 Evaluates student performance, in cooperation with faculty, to determine their ability to integrate didactic knowledge and clinical experiences for successful progression in the program. 
 Coordinates and facilitates interaction between clinical faculty, program faculty, and program staff. 
 Maintains the clinical education Client Relationship Management database to manage student information, health clearance requirements, clinical site data, and clinical affiliationcontracts. 
 Tracks all aspects of the clinical education process including placement, supervision, and communication with all parties. 
Teaching:
Six credits of teaching over a 12-month period in the professional program, with 18 credits of release for administration and management of the clinical education program.

Qualifications:
Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (DPT), and/or Academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, DSc), licensed/eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in New York State, minimum of 3 years of full-time clinical practice, of which 2 must include experience as a site coordinator of clinical education or clinical instructor; and strong communication, organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills; 
Preferred:
earned status as an APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor and experience working within a university environment 
Special Information:
Travel to clinical sites in the tri-state area is required.
