Job Summary

Prepare and administer a curriculum that will develop students into empathetic, competent, dynamic physical therapists as life-long learners Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  1. Knowledge of contemporary physical therapy practice.
  2. Good verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to effectively interact with health care professionals and patients. Bilingual helpful.
  3. Ability to accurately examine the knowledge and clinical skills attained by the students.
  4. Knowledge of instructional and organizational methodologies

Required Qualifications Education:

· An entry-level doctoral degree from an accredited physical therapy program.

· Preference given to those with an academic Doctoral degree (e.g. PhD, EdD). All but dissertation (ABD) candidates will also be considered.

Experience:

The college is seeking an optimal match between individual qualifications and assessed ability to contribute to the College’s mission. All qualified candidates will be considered. Rank (Instructor/Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Full Professor) will be determined based on the College of Health Sciences’ Faculty Guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Eligibility for licensure in the state of Oregon.

• Expertise in pediatric physical therapy / Anatomy / Physiology

• Curriculum development experience in a CAPTE-accredited physical therapy program.

• Professional association membership with evidence of advocacy for physical therapy profession.

Essential Job Duties Key Responsibilities

Teaching in the classroom and/or laboratory. Provide the highest quality of teaching with the most current content information possible. Provide the highest quality of clinical supervision. Maintain and promote high standards of intellectual integrity. Provide a syllabus at the beginning of each course to guide the student in planning. Maintain records of student grades and progress. Prepare examinations that assess the student’s accomplishment of lecture and laboratory objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Communication

Be open to interaction with students in class and available through office hours at least two (2) hours per week when students are not scheduled to be in class. Be willing to schedule further time as needed by the student. Be a mentor to the students. Exhibit teamwork and cooperation within the department and other departments within the University. Interact appropriately within the department and University with all levels of administration and support staff, from President to Security Guard. Be timely and accurate in all communications. 

Scholarship and Research

Participate in grant proposals, scholarly publications or oral/poster presentations. Conduct research individually or in collaboration with University faculty and/or community clinicians. Maintain current knowledge in the profession by conference and seminar attendance, as well as by research and teaching. 

Service

Serve on Departmental, College, and University committees. Become involved in elected, appointed and/or volunteer American Physical Therapy Association or other professional activities. Participate in community service activities. 

Clinical Practice of Physical Therapy/Professional Development

Maintain skill levels and acknowledge by clinical practice or continuing education. Align to CAHP expectations and maintain compliance with CAPTE standards, policies and procedures. Special projects as assigned from year to year. May be required to be a committee chair. May guest lecture for other programs in the University. May be required to attend university functions outside normal working hours. Assist other faculty with practical examinations. Provide tutorial classes for students who require remediation.

Expected Pay Scale

Minimum $100,000.00 Maximum $140,000.00
