Title: Defining the Standard of Practice for Rural Physical Therapy: Exploring Practice Patterns, Innovations, and Challenges in U.S. Rural Healthcare

Ideal Participant: PT, PTA

Description: The purpose of this research is to define the standard of practice for physical therapy in rural areas of the United States by exploring practice patterns, specialty certifications, interprofessional collaboration, primary care roles, the use of specific interventions, and patient/client management strategies. The study aims to identify the unique challenges and innovations that rural physical therapists face, particularly in the areas of telehealth, community-based care, and culturally relevant practices. By synthesizing these findings, the research seeks to inform national guidelines and support the development of standards that address the specific needs of rural populations while maintaining high-quality care and improving patient outcomes.
