Professional Bio
B. James Massey, PT, DPT, DSc, OCS, FAAOMPT is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Wingate University where he teaches orthopaedics, diagnostic imaging, and differential diagnosis. He currently serves as Chair for the Education Committee AOPT Orthopaedic DPT Faculty Workgroup. Dr. Massey is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist of Orthopaedic Physical Therapy (ABPTS) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT). He holds a Doctor of Science degree from Bellin College, a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from UNC-Chapel Hill, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from North Carolina State University. He completed an orthopaedic residency at Brooks Rehabilitation and an orthopaedic manual PT fellowship at the Duke University Health System. He has contributed chapters to orthopaedic textbooks, authored manuscripts on orthopaedic topics to peer-reviewed journals, and lectures on orthopaedic PT topics at national conferences and events. His research interests include diagnosis and management of orthopaedic conditions, imaging in PT practice, and entry-level PT education.
