Professional Bio
Dr. Dawn S. Brown serves as the Assistant Chair of Curricular Affairs and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and Human Movement Sciences at Northwestern University. She plays a prominent role in the educational research community, evidenced by her involvement in numerous service projects and collaborations, and over 30 invited and peer-reviewed presentations at regional and national levels. Dr. Brown has held significant positions, including Commissioner for the National Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Commission for the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (ACAPT), Co-Chair of the Illinois Physical Therapy Association Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee, and member of the ACAPT Education Planning and Innovation Committee. Additionally, she serves as an Advisory Board member for Simucase and is appointed to the Illinois State Board of Health as the Doctor of Physical Therapy representative, serving on both the Policy and Rules Committees. Her research focuses on leadership development, faculty development, motivation, and belonging and is recognized both regionally and nationally as a leader in these areas. Dr. Brown's scholarly work has made a substantial impact on physical therapy education and clinical practice.
