Professional Bio

Dr. Jamie Bayliss, PT, DHSc serves as the Director of Clinical Education and is an Associate Professor in the Physical Therapy program at Mount St. Joseph University. She earned a Bachelor of Rehabilitative Science (2003) and Master of Physical Therapy (2005) from the College of Mount St. Joseph and a Doctor of Health Science degree through the University of Indianapolis (2017). She also is a graduate of the American Physical Therapy Association’s Educational Leadership Fellowship (2018). Her research interests include assessing clinical education processes and developing grassroots level initiatives in order to enhance best practices within physical therapist clinical education. Additional research interests include determining trends in student performance that will guide additional program policies, identify students at-risk, offer opportunities for student remediation, and to ensure student readiness for clinical education. She has presented annually at the state, regional, and/or national conferences on these research initiatives since 2016.

She has been involved in clinical education for nearly 15 years, having served as a credentialed CI (through the APTA) and SCCE prior to her current role in academia. She is an engaged member in the APTA, as well as the Ohio-Kentucky Consortium of Physical Therapy Education, where she served two terms as secretary and co-chair. Dr. Bayliss is a member of the APTA, OPTA, the education and orthopedic sections, the CE special interest group, and the National Consortium of Clinical Educators (NCCE), previously serving two terms in the role of secretary.
