Position Summary: 
The Department of Physical Therapy at Wingate University invites applications for a 12-month, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (determined by experience and qualifications), with a target start date of August 1, 2025.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to join a dynamic faculty team while also playing a key role in shaping clinical education. In addition to the core responsibilities of teaching, scholarship, and service, this faculty member will also serve as the Assistant Director of Clinical Education, dedicating approximately 25% of their time to assisting the Director of Clinical Education. This role provides a unique leadership opportunity to strengthen clinical partnerships, support student success in clinical placements, and contribute to the continued excellence of Wingate’s clinical education program—all while maintaining a strong presence in the classroom and academic community.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching & Advising:
- Design and deliver engaging, evidence-based coursework to support student learning and clinical readiness. 
- Advise and mentor students, fostering their professional growth and clinical readiness. 
- Participate in weekly pro bono clinic activities as part of the teaching load.
- Other job duties/responsibilities may be assigned.

Clinical Education Support (Assistant Director of Clinical Education Role):
- Collaborate with the Director of Clinical Education to enhance clinical site experiences.
- Assist with site visits, student placements, and clinical partner relationships.
- Support the collection and management of pre-clinical requirements for students.
- Coordinate student exposure to local employers, networking events, and job fairs.
- Ensure strong communication and collaboration between clinical faculty, site coordinators, and students.
- Engage in service to the department, university, community, and profession.
- Collaborate with the Director of Clinical Education to enhance clinical site experiences and foster strong community partnerships 
- Comfort collaborating with faculty both within and outside of the physical therapy department
- Conduct research and scholarly activities

Scholarship & Service:
- Engage in scholarly activities that align with personal expertise/scholarly agenda.
- Contribute to the department, university, profession, and community through service initiatives.
- Collaborate with faculty within and across departments to promote interdisciplinary learning.
- Other job duties/responsibilities may be assigned.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physical Therapist in North Carolina.
- Terminal academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DSc, DHSc) or a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) with a board-certified clinical specialization (ABPTS).
- Experience teaching or co-teaching kinesiology in an academic or clinical setting.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching modalities/biophysical agents.
- Prior teaching experience in a DPT or PTA program.
- Experience in clinical education leadership, such as Clinical Instructor, Site Coordinator of Clinical Education, Assistant Director of Clinical Education, or Director of Clinical Education.
- A track record of scholarly productivity and/or grant writing.
