Item/Job/Service Description 

Basic Purpose: Responsible for the leadership, management, supervision, and evaluation of the Physical Therapist Assistant Program, its instructional curriculum, and services. Working closely with the Dean of Health Sciences and the PTA Director of Clinical Education is responsible for the innovative leadership, continuous review, planning, development, and effectiveness of the Physical Therapist Assistant Program through the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapist Education (CAPTE) accreditation process.

*This position requires the new employee to submit the PA State Police check, the child abuse clearance, and FBI fingerprint results to HR prior to their first day of employment.

 

**This position has been approved for a flexible work option arrangement. Flexible work options can be ended at any time by the College, Cabinet, and/or supervisors based on employee performance and/or as institutional needs change.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Acts as the Physical Therapist Assistant Program liaison in interactions with the Dean of Health Sciences; Vice President of Academic Affairs and Provost; and other persons and areas within the College.

·         Develops and submits periodic accreditation reports and self-study documents to establish and maintain CATPE accreditation of the program.

·         Coordinates the activities of the Physical Therapist Assistant Advisory Committee, including recommendations for membership.

·         Develops and maintains a systematic process for program and course review, instructional review, and academic program review.

·         In collaboration with program faculty, develops, evaluates, and modifies program and student policies and procedures to ensure best practices and compliance with CAPTE evaluative criteria.

·         Develops an annual schedule of physical Therapist assistant course offerings and staffs courses to meet the needs of students.

·         Manages the on-campus laboratory and resources that support the program.

·         Demonstrates an entrepreneurial spirit while, in collaboration with the PTA Director of Clinical Education, builds collaborative community relationships and secures appropriate affiliated clinical student learning experiences.

·         In collaboration with the Admissions Office, participates in student recruitment activities and serves as Chair for candidate selection process.

·         Utilizes data to inform decision making and enhance student, faculty, program, and personal performance.

·         Facilitates the resolution of students, faculty, and/or staff issues.

·         Directs, supervises, and evaluates faculty and staff that support the program.

·         Administers the program’s cost center operating, capital, and grant budgets in accordance with the policies and procedures of the College.

·         Participates in continuing professional development to expand knowledge of educational methodologies and maintain expertise in the professional discipline.

·         Performs other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Required Qualifications:

·         Master’s degree in a directly relevant discipline

·         Hold an active, unrestricted PT license or PTA license/certification in any United States jurisdiction and a license in good standing as a Physical Therapist in Pennsylvania

·         5 years clinical experience as a Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant

·         3 years teaching experience in a variety of relevant Physical Therapist Assistant areas within any US Jurisdiction

·         Experience in educational theory and methodology, instructional design, student evaluation and outcome assessment, including the equivalent of nine credits of coursework in educational foundations OR previous CAPTE-granted exemption

·         Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning in and out of the classroom/clinical setting

·         Knowledge of CAPTE accreditation criteria

·         Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills

·         Demonstrated administrative experience including program planning, personnel management, and fiscal management

·         Demonstrated ongoing professional growth and development

·         Commitment to a comprehensive community college philosophy
