Item/Job/Service Description 

The New England Institute of Technology (NEIT) College of Health Sciences (CHS) in East Greenwich, Rhode Island is seeking an individual to join our current faculty and lead the ongoing development of its bridge from PTA to DPT program. Applications are invited for a full-time non-tenure track physical therapy faculty position. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Summary of Position and Responsibilities:

Qualified applicants will join an experienced health science faculty team. Responsibilities include continued development and oversight of the bridge PTA to DPT program to include creating policies and procedures, developing curriculum, as well as hiring and developing faculty and staff. Additional responsibilities include scholarly activity, university/professional service to the college, and interprofessional collaboration with NEIT’s other health science programs.

Qualifications (required):

  1. An earned academic doctoral degree is required.
  2. Eligible for licensure as a Physical Therapist in the state of Rhode Island.
  3. At least 3 years of teaching experience in an entry-level physical therapy program accredited by CAPTE, and six or more years teaching in higher education.
  4. Current membership in the American Physical Therapy Association. 
  5. Excellent organization, problem solving, mentoring and communication skills.

Qualifications (preferred):

  1. APTA Board-Certified as a Clinical Specialist in Physical Therapy. 
  2.  Demonstrated interest and experience in interdisciplinary research. 
  3.  History of securing research funding. 
  4.  Demonstrated professional involvement at the state, national or international level.

About the Program:

The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program will offer a clinical doctoral degree that serves as a bridge for licensed Physical Therapist Assistants to become Physical Therapists. This first in the Northeast hybrid Bridge program is scheduled to begin in March of 2026 pending CAPTE approval for candidacy. Through a combination of didactic and clinical experiences, students will build on their existing professional knowledge and have opportunities for focused study in areas of clinical interest.

Graduates will be prepared to demonstrate a high level of expertise and critical thinking in their work as general practitioners in a variety of Physical Therapy practice settings and will support patients/clients to live and work to their fullest potential. The program will emphasize the development of lifelong learners who are guided by the core values for professionalism in all areas of their clinical practice. The existing PTA Program has a history of robust student and faculty outcomes and provides opportunities for student and faculty engagement as well as research.
